Business Lines

We are prominent  in the Copperbelt where we serve mining companies.

Fuels are our main business line. We sell white and black fuels. Our fuels business line is broadly classified into Retail and Commercial segments.

Retail
We have an expansive retail network in Zambia. Our Service Stations are spread across the country encompassing key commercial townships and highways. We are prominent  in the Copperbelt where we serve mining companies. Through our Service Stations we sell fuels and lubricants to our retail customers.

Our Service Stations are uniquely designed and attractive. In addition, we have included non-fuel services such as fast food outlets, ATM’s, banks and supermarkets to our offerings at the Service Stations to ensure that our customers get everything they require.

Commercial

We have large growing commercial customer base. We serve large, medium and small scale commercial enterprises in all key sectors of the Zambian economy including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, transport and construction. We are a supplier of choice for many of commercial clients because of our timely product delivery, competitive pricing and reliability. Our unique approach to commercial marketing ensures that we work to satisfy the customer.

We are developing an electronic fuel management system, i-fuel, which we will commission into the market in the second quarter of 2011. Once commissioned, i-fuel will provide our customers especially those running fleets of motor vehicles discounted purchases of our fuel products, lubricants, LPG and related non-fuel supplies offered through our Service Stations.

Our Lubricant brands meet first class International Standards.

We blend and provide lubricants grades that cover the entire spectrum of lubricants required in our market including automotive, industrial, construction, specialties and greases.

We provide specialised lubricants, in the commercial market sector, for the road construction industry, cement industry and the agricultural industry. In addition, we have lubricants for specialized applications such as in mining, rubber manufacturing, textile and power industry (both transformer and machinery). In Zambia, our biggest lubricants market is the mining sector which is also the biggest economic activity for the country.

Our lubricants are available in various packages ranging from bulk (quantity varies with need), 1,000 litre plastic drums, steel barrels in 210 litre or (208 litre) and in and 20 litre plastic packs. We have grease packed in 180 Kg, 50 Kg, 17 Kg steel containers. We also package our lubricants in 5 litre, 4 litre, 1 litre ½ litre and ¼ litre packs, all packed in cartons.

As an additional recognition of our quality lubricant products, we received the Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM) Certification by Massey Ferguson for our Kobil Farm MF and Kenol Farm MF products. The certification for these lube grades applies in the entire African continent.

Kobil Zambia blends its lubricants in its Lublend Plant in Ndola. Using the Plant, we are able to meet most of our local product requirements in Zambia. In addition, Lublend has sufficient capacity to blend products for export markets. In this respect, it will provide the natural source of lubes for our newly acquired market in Congo DR (Lubumbashi). Further, we see Lublend exporting its products to other markets such as Burundi, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.

We have lubricant specialists to guide and advise our customers on the best products within our range for their various uses. In cases where specialised lubricants which are not within the current products range are needed, we have arrangements for to carry out such specialized blending from the KenolKobil Blending Plant in Mombasa Kenya or our blending partners overseas.

Our focus is to expand our lubricants business by growing our commercial customer base especially in the mining sector. We are working on new lubricant blends including synthetic lubricants to ensure that our customers are getting quality products at competitive prices.

We are partnering with leading brands to operate their businesses within our premises.

We are focusing on the development of the non-fuel business segment as a key business line. Non-fuel business has become central to our business planning and development given its profitability in recent years.

Accordingly, we are making our Service Stations one stop shopping centres where motorists can make fuel and non-fuel purchases in one instance. In this regards, we are partnering with leading brands to operate their businesses within our premises.

Developing the non-fuels business segment is an on-going programme for Kobil Zambia and in the long run, we hope to restructure our entire Service Station network to accommodate as many non-fuel business enterprises as possible.
